When we believe, belong, and become, we discover rhythms of work and rest, growth and surrender that bring life rather than exhaustion.

Living the Way means that while hills and valleys still exist in our journey, they don’t define who we are. We’re not victims of our circumstances or slaves to destructive patterns. Instead, we’re people with purpose, direction, and hope.

This new lifestyle offers what our souls have been craving: genuine community connection, healthy boundaries, and the deep satisfaction that comes from becoming who God created us to be. We’re no longer trapped on life’s treadmill or roller coaster; we’re walking a path that leads to abundant life.

The door to this new way of living is open before you. Not overnight, but gradually, we start to look more like Jesus. This transformation isn’t about trying harder or following more rules; it’s about allowing God’s Spirit to work in us as we stay connected to Him and His people.

God calls us to be set apart, to be different, to live in a way that reflects His character. This doesn’t mean we become weird or disconnected from the world around us. Instead, we become the best version of ourselves, people marked by love, grace, humility, and service.

Becoming like Jesus is a lifelong process. There will be setbacks and struggles, moments when we fall short of who we want to be. But God is patient with us, just as He was patient with Peter. Even after Peter’s denial, Jesus restored him and used him powerfully.

The goal isn’t perfection; it’s progress. We weren’t created to live the Christian life in isolation. God designed us for community, for connection, for the beautiful messiness of doing life together with other believers.

Belonging isn’t just about showing up to church on Sundays. It’s about intentionally connecting with others who are also on this journey of faith. It’s about being known, being supported, and being challenged to grow. In authentic Christian community, we find people who celebrate our victories and walk with us through our valleys.

This kind of belonging transforms us. When we surround ourselves with people who love Jesus, their faith rubs off on us. Their prayers strengthen us. Their wisdom guides us. We spend all our energy just trying to stay safe, maintain our position, or meet endless demands. This constant motion leaves us drained and wondering if there’s more to life than just surviving.

God sees your weariness and offers something radically different. He invites you to step off the treadmill and into a life of purpose and rest. The first step is simple yet profound: believe. We call him “Doubting Thomas” as if doubt were his defining characteristic. But when we look at his story more closely, we see something beautiful about Jesus’ character.

Thomas missed Jesus’ first appearance to the disciples. When they told him about it, he struggled to believe. He wanted proof, to see and touch the wounds himself. Eight days later, Jesus appeared again, and His first words to Thomas weren’t words of rebuke or disappointment. They were the same words He had spoken to the other disciples: “Peace be with you.”

Jesus didn’t throw Thomas away for his doubt. He didn’t demote him or replace him. Instead, He offered the same grace, the same peace, the same invitation to believe. But Jesus’ response to Thomas shows us otherwise. When we doubt, when we struggle in our faith, we are not thrown away. The power of the cross never diminishes, and the empty tomb never loses its significance.

Your doubts don’t define you. He showed them His wounds. These weren’t just scars; they were proof. Evidence that the man standing before them was indeed the same Jesus who had died on the cross, now risen and alive.

The disciples’ response was immediate and overwhelming: joy. Not just happiness or relief, but the same deep, transformative joy that the wise men experienced when they saw the star leading them to the Messiah. This joy marked two of the most essential moments in the Christian faith: the birth and resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus understood that faith needs evidence, not blind acceptance. He didn’t rebuke the disciples for needing proof; instead, He graciously provided it. In the TV show Ted Lasso, the coach tells a struggling player that goldfish are the happiest animals because they have a 10-second memory. While that’s not scientifically accurate, it perfectly captures our spiritual tendency to forget.

Just like the disciples who forgot Jesus’ repeated teachings about His death and resurrection, we often suffer from spiritual amnesia. We forget that the empty tomb changed everything.

This forgetfulness isn’t just inconvenient. It’s downright dangerous. When we forget the resurrection, we become vulnerable to fear, anxiety, and despair. We start living as if Jesus is still in the tomb, as if our sins still separate us from God, as if we’re on our own in this broken world.

But here’s the beautiful truth: even when we forget, God remembers. Even when our faith feels weak, His love remains strong. The resurrection isn’t dependent on our memory or our feelings. It’s a historical fact that continues to transform lives today.

Bible Verse

‘He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.’ - Matthew 28:6

Reflection Question

What are the specific things in your daily life that cause you to forget about the significance of Easter and the resurrection?

Quote

We, though, need to be very, very careful and not be too hard on them because we are like goldfish too. We forget about Christ. And once Easter is over and the ham is all gone and the Easter decor decorations are put away and all the candy is eaten, we just move on.

Prayer

Lord, forgive me for my goldfish memory when it comes to Your resurrection. Help me to remember daily that You are alive and that changes everything about how I live. Amen
